Apr 13, 2008 Windows Vista Service Pack 1 (SP1) is an update to Windows Vista that addresses feedback from our customers. After a virus problem I re installed Windows Vista Home Premium 6. Downloaded Vista Service Pack 1 won't install. ITunes and other useful application/softwares.
A Google search of 'Vista installation error code 80070057 ' returned many results. Seems that there are many like you. I've gone through a number of the postings, and attempted re-installation with almost every background process terminated. No AV software installed (I usually use ClamWin, but I uninstalled it temporarily for this troubleshooting.) I have many games (25+) installed and patched -- so I'm really reluctant to format and reinstall the OS.
