Actually, the default Windows XP theme was Luna, which was the bright blue (with silver and green as alternatives). Under XP the '9x look' was actually provided through XP's own Classic mode called 'Windows classic style,' which many Windows 95/98/ME/2000 users noticed was not the same theme, just as 'Classic' has changed in going from XP to Vista. There are plenty of third-party themes to choose from (with a mention of how to use them in the forum sticky), but the original XP and Windows 9x themes are not included or supported. I realize I will receive criticism for my reply. Nevertheless, freedom of speech is guarranteed in some countries so it is certainly your right to voice your criticism. If your desire is to enjoy the XP themes and many other functions of XP then I suggest you stay with XP.
Nobody is forcing you or coercing you to use Vista. XP will be supported for many years so there is no need for you to use Vista if you don't like it. Kate Nash Made Of Bricks Album.
You can always remove Vista from your machine and replace it with XP as XP is still available for purchase. You should have researched the issue before you went with Vista. I prefer and enjoy the look of Vista as opposed to XP. I have three other computers with XP and I rarely use them because I feel Vista is superior to XP in almost every manner.
I thoroughly enjoy the new look of Vista. Very few things stay the same for any length of time. Old is old and new is new.
Many people prefer old over new and I certainly respect their choice. By the same token, they should respect my choice to abandon the old and go with the new. It is Microsoft's right to design Vista as desired. It is your choice to accept it or decline it.
The only reason that I am also very disappointed with the absence of an XP theme is. Looking at the Programs list in Vista is like looking through a tiny keyhole into a library full of software. Can somebody please explain to me again, *why* is the tree system bad? The tree system means I click start, navigate to the program, click the program: two clicks.

Vista is *much* simpler: Click start, click the scroll bar to find the first directory, click the directory, click scroll bar to navigate the expansion, repeat clicking as necessary, click the program. The solution offered by Vista? Revert to the ugly '98' style. Now that's innovation.
Not quite as advertised, this download is merely 16 WAV files designed to be loaded into your system sounds. Vista to XP Sound Theme isn't packed as a theme you can load on your own. Executing the file places the files in your Windows Media folder.
The program then automatically changes your system sounds to the packed 16 WAV files. It doesn't go the extra step, though, and you'll need to save them as a theme yourself. Vista to XP Sound Theme also fails to back up your previous sounds. You need to make sure you do that yourself before installing these. Finally, the included sounds are not actually the default Vista sounds.
With this freeware download, you may get a nice collection of Windows sounds, but don't expect what its title promises.
